Welcome! MDDA-Boston is a resource for people with affective disorders - and their families and friends. Affective disorders such as bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness) and clinical depression affect millions of people every year. Coping with these disorders is difficult enough, but coping alone can be even tougher.
MDDA-Boston (Manic-Depressive and Depressive Association of Boston) is a nonprofit, self-help organization run by and for people with affective disorders such as depression and manic-depression, and schizoaffective disorder . MDDA members come together to share support and information with others in similar situations. We are here EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT, rain or shine, Holiday or not --Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, no matter what day Wednesday turns out to be. We never cancel, except in the case of a problem with space, which has happened only once in about 20 years! Please join us! MDDA-Boston also provides ongoing support of our joint venture with McLean Hospital, the Jonathan Cole Mental Health Consumer Resource Center , which is staffed by people who have dealt successfully with mental health problems first hand. Dedicated to improving knowledge and awareness of affective disorders among our membership, healthcare professionals and the general public, MDDA sponsors numerous activities to help accomplish these goals.
